When it comes to holidays, arts, achievements, or pretty much any good reason, Google loves developing fancy Google Doodles. Animation, music, games, all of the above… Google loves to get creative with its logo, and its most recent Google Doodle might be one of the prettiest I’ve ever seen. Google rolled out an animated, musical logo in honor of the 151st birthday of Claude Debussy. Debussy was born on August 22, 1862 in Saint-Germain-en-Laye, France. He remains one of the most influential composers of the 20th Century, despite passing away in 1918 at age 55. The Doodle honors Debussy with a beautiful animated river scene while Debussy’s famous “Claire de Lune (Moonlight)” plays.
Google really pulls out all the stops when it comes to honoring musicians and creators. From Les Paul to Bob Moog, Google’s musician Doodles are some of the best in their library, especially when you can play music on them and create your own tunes using their technology. You can’t get to play your own tune on Debussy’s Doodle, but when it’s music this beautiful, you don’t need to ruin it by adding your own take.
