A fake cooking show host sings along to Bob Dylan.
Despite starring in one of the first music videos, and having some really good videos over his career, I would have assumed that Bob Dylan isn’t a fan of the media. I’m not sure why I would think that, but it just seems like something he’d be a crank about. Well, Bob has both proven me wrong in the past–what with the great videos–and is proving me wrong as we speak, because he’s got one of the best music video experiences I’ve ever participated in up on his website. Bob Dylan and company have produced an interactive music video for “Like A Rolling Stone” that may be the coolest thing ever.
Featuring 16 channels of content, from fake cooking shoes to Drew Carrey and the real The Price Is Right crew, this may be one of the most fun things Bob’s ever done, and I’m including his satellite navigation track and all the Bob Dylan soundalike contests. The 16 different channels feature hosts, actors, and people both real and fictional taking part, everyone singing along to Dylan’s hit song. One of my favorite moments is the stabbing victim caught in CCTV on the video’s BBC channel who sings along and holds his stomach. Of course, it’s not just for fun, it’s also to promote Bob Dylan The Complete Album Collection Volume One, a set of all 41 official Dylan albums plus two collections of B-sides and rarities.
