It’s one of the most venerated properties in comic books. Among Marvel’s first heroes, The Fantastic Four has been brought to the screen multiple times, with varying degrees of success, and 20th Century Fox is going to keep on trying until they get it right, or until they have lost enough money that the rights revert to Marvel. Since 2008, Fox has been trying to get a new Fantastic Four movie off the ground, and it looks like they might have finally gotten it. The Fantastic Four reboot has been cast, and the cast looks pretty good.
Miles Teller and Kate Mara will take on the roles of “Mr. Fantastic” Reed Richards and Sue “Invisible Girl” Storm, respectively. Johnny “Human Torch” Storm will be played by Michael B. Jordan (presumably he’s going to be adopted this time around, or she’s adopted, or they’re half-siblings, or something else to explain away their race difference). Jamie Bell will put on the big orange rock suit (or green-screen leotard) to play the role of Ben Grimm, AKA The Thing. Josh Trank of Chronicle fame will be directing a script most recently polished up by Simon Kinberg.
It’s just a shame that it can’t be a cross-over with frequent Fantastic Four member Spider-Man, because that would be awesome. Sadly, Spidey is a Sony property, and Marvel still doesn’t have the rights to all its characters back yet.
