New York’s Bravest and New York’s Finest strap on skates and take to the ice at Long Island’s Nassau Coliseum to raise money for charity. Sounds like a good, clean, fun afternoon of hockey between two esteemed uniform-wearing civil servants, right? It’s definitely an upgrade over a charity toenail auction, but as it turns out, there’s some bad blood between the NYPD and the NYFD and it spilled over onto the ice when it was supposed to be raising money for good causes. The NYPD and NYFD turned a charity hockey game into a charity brawl, and it was all captured on video.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sUAplJvj_WYWith the game tied in the second period with a score of 3 to 3, tensions boiled over and the fights broke out. Referees struggled to restore order, and eventually got the game restarted. The NYPD won 8-5, breaking a five-year losing streak to the fire department that no doubt has fans of charity hockey games between local government organs thrilled. Maybe next year they’ll skip the hockey and just organize a charity donnybrook. You know, cut out the middle man and get right to the fighting. I’d watch that on pay-per-view.
