This is what happens when a roller coaster hits a tree.
Everyone likes a good roller coaster. Well, most people like a good roller coaster, even if I am not one of them. Not that I think they’re inherently unsafe, even though they do occasionally get stuck upside down and the riders have to be carefully evacuated from them, but I’m just not a big fan of going upside down. There are now nearly two dozen Six Flags visitors who probably agree with me after a freak accident in California. The Ninja roller coaster at Six Flags Magic Mountain derailed after hitting a fallen tree, stranding 22 riders and injuring 4.
“It looked like a pine tree fell and it fell across the track of the Ninja ride,” said L.A. County Fire Inspector Rick Flores. “The car came around the corner and it hit the tree.”
Amazingly, there were no serious injuries, when there could have easily been 22 people getting sent to the hospital for serious injuries. Hopefully they’ll be able to get the roller coaster back on the tracks before too long, too. Maybe spend a little time trimming the trees around your coasters, too.
