Six supervillains have been given an impossible mission to accomplish to protect the United States (and the world) from a major threat. When you’ve got a suicide mission, you’ll be sending the Suicide Squad. The 80’s comic book has been rebooted, with added Harley Quinn, and now it looks like another modified version of the Suicide Squad will be appearing in Warner Brothers’ DC Universe on the big screen, with a noteworthy new addition. Jared Leto will be playing The Joker in the upcoming Suicide Squad movie. The film will be written and directed by David Ayers, who recently helmed the WWII Brad Pitt flick Fury.
“We look forward to seeing this terrific ensemble, under Ayer’s amazing guidance, give new meaning to what it means to be a villain and what it means to be a hero,” said Greg Silverman, president for Warner Bros.’ Creative Development and Worldwide Production.
Here’s the full line-up for the big-screen debut of the Suicide Squad: Jared Leto will be the latest version of The Joker, Tom Hardy will be group leader Rick Flagg, Will Smith will take on the role of Deadshot. Margot Robbie will be Harley Quinn (making her big screen debut), Jai Courtney will be Captain Boomerang, and Cara Delevingne will put aside her modeling to play Enchantress. That’s an A-lister, a hot new actress, a world-famous model, an Oscar winner, Batman’s toughest challenge, and a gladiator (not in any order). It’s a surprisingly star-studded movie, as far as actors are concerned, plus it’s got The Joker, so that means it will still make hundreds of millions of dollars due to its connection to Batman and Superman.
