Sounds like pretension.

There’s nothing quite as nice as working from home.  No disruptions, no distractions, nothing to bother you, and nothing but silence for hours at a time.  Sometimes, it’s too quiet.  Sometimes you need some background noise to help you focus.  I can’t work without music, TV, or some kind of sound behind me, so a white noise generator does wonders for me.  .

Hipster Sound has a bunch of different, fun options, from third wave coffee shop to beachside lounge.  It’s the next best thing to actually going out to a coffee shop, except that it’s going to be a lot cheaper to brew your own coffee at home rather than pay $7 for a cup of coffee served by some organic fair-trade barista with stretched earlobes and a beanie.  You won’t get that good coffee shop smell, though, or the satisfaction to be doing work while other people sit around pretending to write screenplays.

Still, it’s the kind of ambiance that should really help shut out the sounds of your mundane house.  If you don’t like the coffee shop sound, then try one of five options.
