There’s nothing cooler than an animal show. I know they’re not encouraged these days, and that’s fine, but if you get a chance to pet a ray or see a dolphin jump through a hoop or splash around in a pool or something cool like that. If it can be some sort of exotic animal, then so much the better. However, even the best-trained animal is still an animal, and that means they’re unpredictable. For example, an eagle tried to carry off a child during a wildlife show.
“We’re at the bird show in the afternoon, having a great time and looking forward to seeing the wedge-tailed eagle come out for the finale,” said Keenan Lucas, an eye witness to the attack. “The bird then flew over the crowd and tried to grab on to a young boy’s head. He screamed, the mother was distraught and the presenters wrapped up the show very quickly.”
The show is at the Alice Springs Desert Park, and normally, the wedge-tailed eagle sweeps in for the finale. However, on this day, the eagle was a little distracted. Apparently, the boy was playing with a zipper on his coat, and that noise and motion attracted the eagle’s attention. The eagle swooped in and tried to take the boy off for a late dinner. Fortunately, the stunned boy escaped with only a superficial scrape from talons; the eagle will be getting a vacation from the show while it’s investigated.
