Good news, everyone! Our long national sporting nightmare is over! One of the biggest disasters of the 2012 National Football League season has been the replacement officials and the referee lockout the NFL owners instigated after negotiations failed. The NFL was not willing to return to the negotiation table without concessions, but then a disaster happened and the replacement officials completely ruined a game. That made the owners realize how much they needed the officials and between Tuesday morning and Thursday morning, a deal was made. The NFL referee strike is over and the real officials are coming back effective immediately.
“Our officials will be back on the field starting tomorrow (Thursday) night,” said NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell. “We appreciate the commitment of the NFLRA in working through the issues to reach this important agreement.”
The officials will be back at work on Thursday, which means they’ll be working the Cleveland Browns/Baltimore Ravens game. They’ll need all their tricks to keep that game in line, so here’s hoping the officials aren’t rusty from their extra time off.
