For those of you out there who might engage in illegal activities by downloading movies, it might be in your best interests not to post your intentions to the whole of the Internet. Movie studios are out there, and they are keeping an eye out for their properties. After posting a message complaining about the lack of Adventureland downloads, a Twitter user named Amanda found out that Miramax has been watching her because the company left her a message: “Cmon Amanda, don’t do it. #adventureland # fbi.”
The story has a happy ending, at least this time. Amanda didn’t download the movie, and Miramax sent her free tickets to see the film legitimately in theaters. That’s much better public relations than, say, having the poor girl thrown in prison like certain organizations would have.
These days, you have to be careful what you say and who you say it to, especially online. It doesn’t take a Ph.D. in Facebook to know that. Some things the world doesn’t need to know (and some things you shouldn’t want the world to know).
