Well, just in case anyone ever uncovers alien life via the SETI@home project, one man is trying to make sure his home town of Denver, Colorado, is ready. That visionary is Jeff Peckman, and he wants to start an Extraterrestrial Affairs Commission at the local government level of Denver. It might sound crazy (and it probably is crazy), but Peckman just wants to be ready for the day we finally make contact.
Given that Mork from Ork lived in Boulder, it’s only natural that Colorado take the lead on this sort of thing. If the aliens are good, then they get to land in one of the nicest places on earth and enjoy the clean mountain air, skiing, and forests. If the aliens are malevolent, then they’re as far away from New York and Washington, D.C., and close to America’s weapons arsenal and many top-secret military bases.
You might think he’s one of those foaming-at-the-mouth types who spots aliens around every corner, but Peckman confesses to seeing only one space ship on a very special day. He spotted a UFO on the day Michael Jackson died. I really hope this ballot measure passes, if only because it’s crazy-awesome.
