Having a cold one in a cold place sounds like a pretty bad idea to me, but don’t tell that to Kevin McDonald. He’s the owner of Damenti’s Restaurant in Butler Township, Pennsylvania. He’s also the brains behind a pirate-themed ice bar made out of 50 tons of carved ice located in Damenti’s backyard. It’s about 480 square feet and can hold about 40 people at once, though you’d best pack your winter coat, because the building is pumped full of air conditioning to keep the interior from melting away.
I’ve never been inside a carved ice structure, or even a natural ice structure, but I have to admit it’d be an interesting novelty. If I were in the area, I’d go to Damenti’s to see the ice bar, even if I only had a quick drink and a gawk before leaving. Ice and I tend to not get along, as my driving history will attest to.
