You’d think that when you spend a few hundred thousand dollars on an automobile, that you’d get something perfectly made and maintained. A luxury automobile should roll out of the factory and onto the car lot and then run perfectly. However, in reality, that’s seldom the case. Toyota/Lexus has had several recalls in recent months, and joining the Asian luxury imprint is Europe’s finest automobile, the Mercedes-Benz. Daimler is recalling 85,000 Mercedes cars over a steering flaw.
“The power steering system in the subject vehicles may fail due to the loss of power steering fluid,” said Daimler in a report to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. “Owners may not have sufficient control of the vehicle in areas, such as parking, where maximum power steering is required, and could lead to a vehicle crash.”
Fortunately for drivers, there’s no problem with the car moving at speed, considering how many Mercedes owners have lead foots. Affected vehicles are the 2010 C-Class Model 204, 2010 E- Class Model 212, 2010-11 E-Class Coupe/Cabriolet Model 207.
