Why travel is a box, which I’m sure the kids call something crazy. Like, you know, a car, when you can ride in an a big giant animal made of steel and gears.

An elephant that is reminiscent of the large Elephant creatures from Fellowship of the Ring is hauling curious people around in a video at the post at Gizmodo but there are several to choose from for a different mode of transportation.

Les Machines de l’ile de Nantes are gigantic mechanical animal vehicles currently on display in the French city of Nantes. If you don’t believe they are real and functional, go see the video of the elephant lurching about town with passengers. It’s an amazing sight to behold.

It gives a whole new meaning to public transportation.
