Here’s a list that would probably be included in an Evil Genius Handbook or something. Of course, not all of these Top 10 ways of destroying our planet are that easy to pull off. Each method includes Materials Required plus a nice little Plan Feasibility Level to put the whole thing in perspective.
My favorite apocalyptic means to an end is “getting absorbed by a microscopic black hole.” You’re going to need a machine capable of producing of one of these, but as the article suggests, the mass needs to be roughly the same as Mount Everest. How does it work? Well, the black hole will sink into the earth and start eating up all the matter in the process. The authors are quick to note this a slow procedure, and with the feasibility being 20%, I’m thinking we could go for a more efficient strategy.
Here’s a pretty feasible way of destroying the planet: a Von Neumann machine! It will replicate itself over and over by using all of the available raw materials we have on earth. Next thing you know, we’re on a giant mass of iron floating in space.
These are just a couple examples. Get on over to the full list and see what other devious methods are available (or not) to bring on the end of the world. We take no responsibility for anything you try at home, people. Just remember to wear a helmet.
