Top 10 Cheapest Ways To Get Fit

Posted 2/22/2008 9:15 am by Stephanie Sturgis and Andrew Sorcini

Two things are close to the heart of most Americans - their budget and their health.

Now, notorious tight-wad couch potatoes have one less excuse for not getting up off the furniture and getting fit. The lack of dough in a wallet should never be an excuse for getting a doughy body in shape.

Sure, it can be expensive to join a gym or to purchase the latest home-exercise contraption touted by Chuck Norris and his ilk during television commercials.

But it’s not necessary.

What is needed is a little creativity in pushing your body to new horizons. You can’t get much cheaper than free and everybody loves to get something for nothing.

How about getting a set of sexy six-pack abs while getting rid of those dreaded love handles - all for free. I see you sitting there at your computer, shaking your head and thinking “No, it’s impossisble.”

Wrong and I’ll prove it right here with some obvious ideas and one “sexy” one you may not have considered.

Talk may be cheap but walking is free. Add a few minutes to your daily schedule to walk, whether it’s a stroll through your neighborhood, a continuous loop through the local mall or just up the stairs instead of riding the elevator, walking is easy and it doesn’t cost a dime.

How about running? Jogging is another free way to get your muscles in motion. Lace up some sneakers and pound the pavement.

If your not comfortable taking your workout into the public eye, no problem. Head to the library and check out exercise books and videos in addition to the latest novel. Peruse them and put them to use right in your living room. A Google search can also provide Intenet sites that offer workout ideas and exercise regimes.

There’s also an activity that gets the heart working a little extra overtime that isn’t usually considered part of an exercise routine. Studies have shown that sexual intercourse on a regular basis can reduce the risk of strokes and heart attacks in men. You’ve got to love science when it gives you one more excuse to snuggle up with your honey.

So from the mundane to the red-hot, exercise can be done on the cheap.

Go check out a complete list of budget-conscience exercise options and get fit.

Once again cultures are clashing in Dubai, where the region’s forward-thinking architecture and business plans belies the region’s backwards-thinking laws and rules.  When Ayman Najafi and a female friend were out to dinner, they exchanged a kiss of greeting, which is very common even in the Muslim world.  However, what one side claims was a […]

Crack Open A Jar Of Fresh Air

Posted 3/15/2010 7:30 am by Ron Hogan

Most of us work in awful conditions.  For example, I work in a windowless room with concrete block walls, no air flow to speak of, and fluorescent lighting.  If we open up the doors to let the air in, then we’re stuck smelling what other people burn in the microwave down the hall.  It’s really […]
