Men are from Mars, women are from Venus. But at least our planet is covered in table salt! That’s according to recent feedback from a Mars probe that suggests the southern hemisphere is dusted in salt deposits possibly left over from evaporation of huge lakes. These chloride mineral regions could mean lots of water used to present, which in turn suggests life could have been a part of the red planet.
Scientists also think this could have preserved organic traces of such life. Considering that the rest of the universe is a cold, dark place with no traces of otherworldly beings, they’re holding on to any possibility that we’re not alone.
Even though that’s not quite like finding modern art on the moon.
They’re probably decades away from being able to get down there and sample the surface for most hints of life, but at least this is one step closer to proving E.T. exists (or used to).
