There isn’t any doubt that every time the world changes, it remains the same.
More adult children are moving back in with their parents or their loved ones due to several issues. Divorce, loss of wages due to downsizing and unexpected financial pitfalls has some people moving back in with their mothers and fathers.
It’s not unusual. Lavish lifestyles when it was affordable has now been replaced with a new generation who cannot afford what they could in the past. With gas prices and rising costs for basic needs, there is a step back into history of where extended families are once again very prominent in this day and age.
For some, the idea sounds appalling. For others, it is a necessity.
With combined incomes, it creates a sense of hope in hard, economic times. Middle-aged people, who have established lives outside of their parents’ home, are finding as the dollar falls they are returning to the places they grew up in. Over history, extended families were the norm and it appears that is where many in this time of financial insecurity are returning to.
As Thomas Wolfe said, “You can’t go home again.”
For some people, there isn’t a choice.
