You’ve got to admire the TSA sometimes — always looking out for the big picture. I mean a woman with a pair of nipple rings sounds pretty threatening, right? Okay, sarcasm aside, this story sounds too crazy to be true (but then we are talking about trying to fly the unfriendly skies).

It all started when a woman tried to board a flight coming back from a trip. She had managed to get to her destination, but it was the getting back that posed this problem. After making it through a normal metal detector, TSA agents used the handheld version on her. She was told to remove the rings, or face their wrath.

The first ring came out, but the second one required pliers. To nobody’s surprise, her navel ring didn’t require the same scrutiny — probably because the TSA men had already gotten their laughs, as she recalls.

Anyone taking bets on the litigation this is going to bring?
