Sean Connery has been synonymous with the character of James Bond for the better part of his career–whether he likes it or not. More so than Roger Moore, even more so than Pierce Brosnan.
Perhaps this is because Connery was the first face of the infamous 007, and he was that way for a decade. Yes, he’s also Indy’s father and that old art thief from Entrapment, but when we look at that debonair silver hair we all just think, “Bond.”
Connery’s fought to shake that image ever since he stopped playing James Bond after 1971’s Diamonds Are Forever. Originally, he shunned any and all involvement in the flicks. Until now, that is.
Trend Hunter reports that Connery has been quoted as saying he would love to be involved in an upcoming (did he mean the upcoming?) Bond movie. Except this time, he wants to be a villain. He was inspired by Daniel Craig’s take on the character, and the fact that the movies are moving back to a serious tone.
However, Connery did point out that this would be an unlikely situation, saying, “I don’t think they would pay me enough.” I guess another bagillion dollar paycheck is more important to Sean than making history.
