Well, it does! Seriously, this isn’t some late April Fools joke. Its real name is the Brazilian Copaifera langsdorfii and it can grow oil. Once extracted, the diesel has to be used within 3 months, but other than filtering, this tree-grown oil doesn’t require any other refining. Simply fill up your diesel-guzzling truck and watch nature go.
After reaching the right growth, these trees will continue to produce fuel for 70 years. This sounds like a prank, but reports of this amazing tree go as far back as 1625. TreeHugger pulls a quote saying that a hundred acres of Copaifera langsdorfii could yield 25 barrels of fuel per year.
