If only robbing a casino were as easy* as George Clooney and his gang make it look in Ocean’s 11. Well, there are several groups of now convicted felons out there who can tell you one thing: it isn’t easy.
Need more proof? Neatorama has published a brilliant article that details five different robberies that took place in Vegas called, “Robbing Las Vegas (4 Who Got Caught and 1 Who Got Away).”
There’s the mob bosses who tried the “a little off the top” approach by aligning themselves with the owner of 4 casinos and rigging different things around the establishment. For example, they rigged the scales so that they underweighed coins.
Also included in the list, of course, is the now infamous group of MIT students that have been the inspiration behind books and movies starring Kevin Spacey alike.
But the list isn’t full of hoodlums. At least some of them aren’t hoodlums anymore. One casino-robbing Oklahoma resident reformed after spending a year in prison for tampering with slot machines. He’s previously told the Associated Press that he’s working on a new invention that will prevent people from rigging the slots.
