Today is Earth Day and in honor of taking care of the planet because it takes care of us, let’s visit National Geographic magazine. And there is a reason why if you are wondering. The magazine has showed intimate and amazing images of a world many of us will never have the fortune of seeing first hand.

It’s photographs have always been amazing and now National Geographic is asking readers and amateur photographers to submit their shots of the world. In a new feature called “Your Shot” photos are uploaded daily onto their website that have been taken from readers. The top two shots of the month are included in the print edition of the magazine.

No one celebrates Mother Earth more than National Geographic. And the images that they have given the world for decades tends to inspire and awe.

And to see the glory of the earth on this day, head to Google Earth where you can see all of this planet in its’ glory.
