I’ve finally found a way to travel into outer space without having to die and have my ashes hurled out into oblivion.
NASA is affording me (and anyone else inclined) an opportunity to send my name into space as part of the Kepler Mission.
The Kepler mission is a search for Earth-size and smaller planets in the Goldilocks Zone and will be launched in February of 2009.
You can add your name and a message of up to 500 words on the topic of why you think this mission is necessary and important. Everyone’s names and comments will be burned on a DVD and put on board the ship.
Bonus time here. In addition to traveling into space, you’ll make it into the Smithsonian since a copy of the DVD will be donated to the National Air and Space Museum.
They’ve even got a certificate you can copy and print so you’ve got your own documentation of your astral “hello”.
