There’s one thing you can say about the old pioneers. They were tougher than we could ever imagine. They traveled across country in wagons, for goodness’ sakes! Over mountains and through deserts, pulled by animals in a big splintery box on wheels! John McComsey, a retired fellow from Henry, Tennessee, decided that he wanted to take a trip to Phoenix to visit his family. But John didn’t want to fly Southwest; John hitched up his mule team and did it the old-fashioned way. That’s right, he traveled 1774 miles via wagon train.
As it turns out, John has done this kind of thing before, but never on this scale. I mean, he traveled basically all the way across the country! Just look at the scope of this trip! I wonder if he passed any ghost towns on the way.
While he had more modern conveniences than the old-school pioneers did, including a shower, vanity, and hot water heater, that’s still not an easy trip to make by any stretch of the imagination. I wouldn’t even want to make that drive in a car! And just think, he’s still got to get back to Tennessee somehow.
