We’ve all decided that the car of tomorrow is going to end up being an electric car. After all, given the rising cost of gas, it’s the only thing that makes economic sense. That’s why gear heads around the world are looking with longing at the Chevy Volt, GM’s latest electric car offering. Well, technically it’s a plug-in hybrid vehicle (or PHEV). We’ve discussed the back-to-the-future technology befor, but if you want to buy a Volt first, you’d better get to California. It’s one of the few places that will get the Volt at launch in 2010.
Why California? Well, they’re one of the hardest states to pass the emissions testing in, and they’re the largest new car market in the US, if not the world. Plus they already have some existing electric car infrastructure. If anyone’s going to buy the thing and give it a real-world test, it’s car-mad California.
