Marie Ripley says she’s only feeding her unusual bird flock because she doesn’t want them going through trash, but her neighbors from the Montpelier Neighborhood Association in Laurel, Maryland, don’t care. They want the flock of vultures Mary feeds out of their neighborhood one way or another. More than 60 of the giant carrion-eating birds gather at Ripley’s home for big meals of chicken and roast beef left by the woman, and the birds leave their own deposits behind. The big signs Mary has up warning people not to harm the birds lends no credence to her story that she’s only feeding them to keep them out of her trash, but that’s kind of beside the point.
That’s the problem. Vultures poop a lot, but they also have a habit of throwing up. So neighbors are treated to big, staining piles of various disgusting bird oozes and waste products all over their homes, cars, and yards. They’re literally getting it from all angles and from both ends of the eating machines.
