These days, with video cameras in every pocket and around every corner, you are always being watched. There’s no group that gets watched as often as the police do. There’s just something about seeing someone interacting with the cops that makes drivers want to slow down and gawk. It’s only right that the police get to watch back, and San Jose, California’s police department is doing just that. Thanks to Taser International’s Axon system, the police now have personal surveillance systems no bigger than the size of a Bluetooth earpiece.
While a camera system wouldn’t prevent cops from misbehaving off duty, it might keep them behaving a little better while on duty. Plus, it’ll keep people from relying on shaky or grainy video footage to find out exactly what happened at a particular scene. If it helps clear up incidents or put a few extra criminals in jail, then it’s a great addition. It’s not like it weighs that much when you compare it to all the other gear a cop lugs around.
