Google has a ton of products, but if you’re not thinking they’re looking to expand their business, guess again. Google is always looking to grow their brand, from Google Earth to Google OS to Google Maps and more. If you can call it Google Something, the Mountain View, California, company is all over it. Here’s a list of companies that Google might be adding to its stable in 2010, starting with the obvious and ending with one you’ve never heard of (unless you’re Russian).
Some of these would be hard purchases for Google to make. They have buckets of cash and stock, but meeting the price that some of these companies would ask is much. Twitter, especially, is one that Google should buy but probably can’t afford. However, in the article, they mention Digg as being a potential purchase. This is perfect for Google; however the author mentions that Digg isn’t exactly the hot property anymore. That’s why it’s a perfect acquisition for Google. They work Digg directly into their Google octopus, and they get it at a cheaper price than they would have two years ago.
