A group of celebrities and celebrities-lite, from Grammy-nominated singer Kenna to actors Jessica Biel, Emile Hirsh, and Isabel Lucas, the daughter of Al Gore, the granddaughter of Robert F. Kennedy, and the rapper Lupe Fiasco have banded together for one purpose: to bring awareness to the global clean water crisis. Dirty water causes all sorts of health problems, and Summit on the Summit (warning, site is very talkative) is designed to raise awareness and money to fight the good fight and provide fresh drinking water for the entire world. To bring attention to the problem, they decided to climb Mount Kilimanjaro.
It’s kind of like a VH1 reality show, but on the side of a mountain. Take a bunch of famous or vaguely famous folks and have them do something crazy while giving money to a worthy cause. The only thing missing is Corey Haim! You can follow along on Twitter, Tweet the climbers directly, use the interactive menu to look at real-time blog posts and pictures from the climb, and even sponsor a foot of the trek to the top yourself! It’s a great idea for a fundraiser, and a great way to lend a famous name to an excellent cause.
