It has to be tough being the President of the United States. If there’s ever a damned if you do, damned if you don’t job, it must be that. It’s been a tough year all around, and President Barack Obama’s approval ratings are sinking on a daily basis. He’s got a lot of people angry at him, but nobody’s angrier than fans of ABC’s hit series Lost. You see, the State of the Union Address is supposed to be on February 2 this year. What else happens on February 2? Lost is supposed to kick off its new season with a 2-hour debut event.
Obama just loves to be on TV. Whenever possible, he’ll make an excuse to get on the tube. Interrupt the Lost debut? Sure! Knock A Charlie Brown Christmas off the air in the middle of the holiday season? Why not! Angry Lost fans are starting a Twitter protest, #NoStateofUnionFeb2, to try and get the White House to pick their other supposed State of the Union Address date, January 26.
I’m on the side of the Lost fans on this one. I hate it when my favorite TV programs are interrupted for pointless speeches, and Obama has become the king of messing with TV schedules. No wonder the networks are mad at him! ABC has put a fortune into promoting Lost‘s debut, and they’re trying to run a business in tough times. If you want to be on TV so badly, just take over Oprah’s syndicated show.
