Last night’s NFC Wild Card game between the Arizona Cardinals and the Green Bay Packers was supposed to be a battle between offense and defense. Kurt Warner, two-time NFL MVP and grizzled gunslinging veteran, took his high-powered offense to the turf of University of Phoenix Stadium against the Green Bay Packers, the second-best defense against the pass in the NFL this season and a team known for creating a lot of turnovers. There wasn’t much turnover here, as the two teams combined for a record 96 points during an epic 51-49 Cardinals overtime win. That’s a whole lot of scoring.
The two teams each punted once. The two teams combined for 1,024 total yards, 801 yards passing, and 13 touchdowns overall. Green Bay quarterback Aaron Rodgers set a playoff record for the PackersFittingly, the game ended on a turnover. Despite winning the coin toss (which usually means winning the tame), Aaron Rodgers had one costly turnover, fumbling the ball into the hands of Karlos Dansby, who rumbled into the end zone for the winning touchdown.
