While superstars like George Clooney can raise up charity telethons in the blink of an eye and fill them with superstar performers, most of us are stuck doing more mundane things. However, just because we’re not famous, doesn’t mean we can’t accomplish something spectacular. Take, for example, 7-year-old Charlie Simpson. When he saw the images of the destruction in Haiti, he wanted to help. But what can a 7-year-old do? Well, he can ride his bike, for one. So Charlie set up a bike-a-thon and managed to raise over $109,000 dollars for UNICEF!
The most impressive part of Charlie’s efforts isn’t the amount raised, but the time. He raised that much cash in only a day, and with only one 5-mile ride through Fulham’s South Park, near London. True to his word, he stuck it out and did more than his fair share to help out families less fortunate than his own fight off disaster. If you’d like to donate to Charlie’s fund, click that link. Just think, all he hoped to raise was a few hundred pounds!
