The previous Miss England, Rachel Christie, was an Olympic sprinter before she became a beauty queen.  However, after a nasty bar fight with a fellow beauty pageant contestant, she’s been forced to resign in shame.  Good thing she didn’t fight with the runner up, because odds are she’d get her butt handed to her!  That’s because the new Miss England, Miss Tunbridge Wells Katrina Hodge, is an Iraq war veteran who aims to go to Afghanistan after her tour of duty as Miss England ends in July!

For their part, the British Army is being fully cooperative with Lance Corporal Hodge, even going so far as to give her special leave to compete for Miss World.  She aims to spread the word about the British Army and various military charities around the world.  Good for them to recognize good PR when they’re handed it, and good for her for using her station as a way to raise money for her fellow soldiers.
