Tony Van is a hairstylist by trade, but a car thief by vocation. I can say this fairly confidently because, while facing trial for stealing a $125,000 Porsche Carrera, he only knew of one way to get to the court house. That way involved stealing another car, this time a Lexus. He then drove his stolen car to court. I guess when you get used to riding in style, you have to keep up appearances, even at court appearances.
What gave the 37-year-old Van away wasn’t the license or the description of the car, or even his description as the thief. No, Van was discovered after seven Yorkshire terrier puppies escaped the Lexus SUV, which alerted the police to the vehicle’s presence. They ran the plates and when Van came out with the keys in his hand, he was arrested and booked again for receiving a stolen vehicle, receiving stolen property, animal cruelty, and leaving animals in an unattended vehicle. All because of a gaggle of puppies.
