The one bad thing about eating while driving is that you never know what’s going to happen. If you’re like me, you end up covered in mustard or sauce or stray lettuce leaves. If you’re like one unlucky truck driver, then you end up choking on your spoon full of delicious Wendy’s chili, lose control of your flatbed truck, and crash into a house.
Fortunately for all involved, no one was hurt. The driver escaped injury and the woman inside the house at the time the truck came smashing through the wall like a deranged Kool-Aid Man also escaped injury. However, the house was not so lucky; the truck cannot be dislodged safely from the wall of the house, so officials in Lowell, Massachusetts are going to end up demolishing the home.
This is why, if I have to eat while on the road, I’ll pull over somewhere, chow down, and then continue my drive. Multi-tasking while operating a motor vehicle tends to be problematic, even under the best of circumstances.
