As LeBron James said after the game, “That was actually what it was. That was not a false number. You could look up in the stands, and there was not a seat open. To be part of history is something that you always wish a dream for.” That part of history that James and company took part in was the 2010 NBA All-Star Game, which was held in front of over 108,000 people last night at the home of the NFL’s Dallas Cowbow, Cowboys Stadium. That crowd got to witness an incredible performance from All-Star Game MVP Dwyane Wade, who scored 28 points and dished out 11 assists. Still, the big story was the stadium itself.
Cowboys owner Jerry Jones and Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban promised the world a spectacle, and boy did they ever delivery. The previous largest crowd was 78,000 people, which was at the Kentucky Wildcats versus Michigan State Spartans college basketball game at the Pontiac Silverdome in 2003. It’s a new record high for the NBA, the All-Star Game, basketball games in general, and even for Cowboys Stadium (which had a crowd of 105,000 on hand for its opening football game).
