The Philips Highway location of Burger King in Jacksonville, Florida, has the same slogan the rest of the company’s corporate offices and franchisees has: Have it your way. For most people, having it their way means having it without pain pills snuck onto the sandwiches by a disgruntled employee, but that wasn’t the case for Ernest McHenry. As he went to season his fish sandwich with a little salt and pepper, he noticed something stuck to the bun: a little blue hydrocodone pill. Police say the powerful pain killer was slipped onto the sandwich by Woody Duclos, who was already in trouble with the restaurant and have charged a second employee, Bryant Jones, with being the one to supply the drugs.
Police say another customer wasn’t so lucky, and got sick because of the planted pain pill. Getting customers sick was Duclos’ plan all along, as he wanted to ruin the restaurant. I suppose he didn’t think what might happen if he gave that pill to the wrong person and they died. Here’s hoping they throw the book at those two for tampering with food.
