You train all your life for something, and when you’re celebrating your biggest moment, disaster strikes. Such is the tale of David Möller. The German Olympian and medalist in the men’s luge event at the 2010 Vancouver games, Moeller was celebrating his victory with the now-traditional Olympics pose: biting the medal like it’s a piece of candy. Unfortunately for Moeller, he bit the medal too hard (or caught a weird angle) and ended up breaking his tooth!
Still, Moeller, the silver medalist behind countryman Felix Loch, wasn’t too upset about his broken tooth or his second place. “The corner of the tooth has broken off a few times at home,” Möller said. “But it is irritating when you don’t trust yourself to smile as you should.” Möller is currently looking for a dentist, possibly to add some gold in his mouth to go with the silver around his neck.
