If you have a potty mouth, then I’d avoid California for the first week of March. That’s when the California State Assembly has declared a Cuss Free Week. There’s no enforcement, and you can’t go to jail for your dirty mouth (even if you curse at police officers), but lawmakers are trying instead to promote harmony and understanding, even going so far as to distribute swear jars to their fellow lawmakers, including the Governator himself!
The law is inspired by the No Cussing Club, which was founded by McKay Hatch at his junior high school back in 2006. There are now similar clubs in every state and over 20 different countries! California is the first state to pass a comprehensive anti-cursing week, and undoubtedly they won’t be the last. The lawmakers could have treated it like a joke, but apparently they’re going to be serious about curtailing the dirty words.
Cursing is a hard habit to break, but it can be done. Good luck, California!
