There are career criminals, and there’s Doris Thompson. She’s the definition of career burglar. At age 80, she just got sentenced to state prison for yet another burglary. This is her ninth time going into state prison, she’s used 27 different aliases, and she’s got a criminal record dating back to 1955. And when she gets out, she’ll do it again. Assuming she makes it to the end of her three-year sentence, that is.
She has a particular motive, and she’s very good at what she does. She has her burglar kit, and during regular business hours, she’ll go into a building and hide in the restroom. While she only hits doctor’s offices rather than banks, she’s very thorough. She checks every drawer and leaves no stone unturned. Once, she even stole a urine sample cup that had been filled with spare change!
At least she’s polite. She called the prosecutor of her case “sweetie,” she thanked the judge for sending her to state prison rather than county jail, and she even told the court, “God bless you,” during her arraignment. What a nice old cat burglar!
