An unnamed 39-year-old prisoner must’ve thought it was his lucky day until the ice gave way. He managed to escape off a prison chain gang in Grant County, Washington. He stole a truck and nearly got away, jumping into frozen Moses Lake. Except the lake wasn’t frozen, and the man found himself chained up, drowning in icy water. Fortunately for him, he was rescued. Unfortunately for him, he was rescued by sheriff’s deputies who promptly arrested him. Again.
It must be pretty easy to get away from a chain gang, since prisoners seem to be doing that a lot lately. Still, I imagine he was pretty thankful to be rescued by the guys guarding him, since being in prison sure beats being in a morgue. Maybe he’ll get to return the favor and save a guard’s life while in jail.
