It’s not every day you create a car that eventually becomes its own cult, but that’s what Ford has done with its iconic Mustang. They’ve even named giant sheep after the Mustang! It’s so beloved that it spawned one of the oldest enthusiast groups in the United States, the Mustang Club of America. Founded in 1976, the Mustang Club of America has grown to cover thousands of members in over 180 countries, and now Ford is giving a little something back to them in the form of the Mustang Club Of America edition 2011 Ford Mustang.
It’s a fitting tribute, to be sure. the MCA edition is a special options package with a hockey-stick-style stripe down the side, special fog lamps and floor mats, a spoiler, and even custom logos and grill options. It’s also pretty cool looking, as you can see by the picture above. This will be an idea that takes off, I predict. Lots of car brands have enthusiasts, and this is a cheap and easy way for Ford (or whoever) to shoot them a wink and a nudge as a reward for their loyalty.
