Disney officials have learned the hard way not to mess with Texas. After all, if a sharp-eyed Texas schoolgirl can catch a grammar mistake while riding on a roller coaster, there’s no telling what those people are capable of! While riding on the Primeval Whirl at Walt Disney World’s Animal Kingdom, fourth-grader Hannah Estes noticed a mistake on the count-down sign during the ride’s beginning.
Rather than read”one second,” the sign said, “one seconds,” which as any fourth-grader could tell you is not correct. “Because I learned in Ms. Bennett’s class that a singular number can’t be with a plural word, and so that’s what it was, and it wasn’t right,” said Hannah of her discovery. She snapped a picture of the sign mistake using her camera, and mailed the picture off to Disney officials.
Disney officials mailed the girl back, thanking her for her sharp eyes and promising that the mistake would be corrected. Score one for grammar nerds!
