The idea of a luxury survival bunker kind of sounds crazy, doesn’t it? Well, to me, yes, but don’t tell that to Robert Vicino. Out in Barstow, California, beneath the Mojave Desert, he and his company Vivos have built a luxury end-times bunker, for those wishing to ride out the apocalypse in style. It’s 13,000 square feet of living la vida apocalyptica, including a gym, an atrium, and all the goodies you’d need to keep 132 people alive through just about anything.
Sure, the $50,000 price tag is high, but Vicino and Vivos have thought of everything. They’re even planing on building a jail, just in case the confinement starts to get to be too much on some of the patrons of the bunker. He was inspired by the upcoming 2012 apocalypse, but just in case that doesn’t happen, the bunker has been designed to protect against the following: a pole shift, super volcano eruptions, solar flares, earthquakes, asteroids, tsunamis, nuclear attack, bio terrorism, chemical warfare and widespread social anarchy. Just because you want to survive doesn’t mean you have to give up style!
