The Los Angeles Dodgers, one of the most popular of Major League Baseball franchises and the biggest team in the Los Angeles sports market not named the Lakers, are currently in the middle of a nasty divorce. Owners Frank and Jamie McCourt have taken their fight from the bedroom to the courtroom, and the team is caught in the middle, like a billion-dollar baby in a custody dispute. That means all the skeletons are coming out of the closet, including the fact that the Dodgers employed a healer and physicist named Vladimir Shpunt whose job was to send the team positive energy like some kind of psychic baseball wizard.
Shpunt, like fellow odd physicist Stanton Friedman, is both a smart man and a bit of a strange duck. Shpunt attended only one game at Dodger stadium during his five-year tenure with the team; instead, he watched the games from his home in Boston and beamed the team V energy by “thinking blue.” Shpunt, the grandson of a former village healer in Russia, believes that his V energy levels “might be 10 or 15 times higher” than those of us mere mortals, which is how he is able to perform healing (he healed a girl with cancer in Russia and healed Jamie McCourt’s eye when she nearly lost it due to infection) and why he believes he’s been helping the Dodgers on their quest for MLB greatness.
