It’s weird for me to say this as an American, but the World Cup is always an awesome sporting event. It just might be the best sporting tournament in the world. Americans just don’t know how good soccer can be, but watch a little bit of the opening match today and tell me you’re not impressed. These are the best soccer players in the world, bar none, and they’re the best at what they do for a reason.
There’s nothing like high-level international soccer in front of the frenzied home fans. Even the players know how important this is, and play their hearts out so as to leave everything on the pitch. If South Africa scores a goal on Mexico, the place will explode.
