People of Taiwan, consider this your official warning. Stay away from giant hamburgers and other huge sandwiches if you want to preserve your jaw functioning. That was the announcement by Taiwan’s School of Dentistry of National Yang-Ming University professor Hsu Ming-lun, who points to two unnamed fast food franchises as the culprit behind Taiwan’s sudden outbreak of mangled jaws and sore faces. Sore jaws and the inability to open your mouth are symptoms of temporomandibular dysfunction, which is caused by opening the mouth too wide too often.
Of course, any PopFi reader knows about the jaw-mangling sandwiches we sell in America, but Asia is the home of the massive 7-patty Whopper, so I can only imagine what sort of giant burgers the Taiwanese are indulging in. The average person opens his or her jaw 4 centimeters to eat, but some of the giant burgers are 8 centimeters tall or larger, hence the need for warnings and the occasional public chastisement.
