The Valencia Club was a fairly popular local place in Penryn, California. However, the bar closed down in June and was thought to be gone forever until Travis Lloyd Kevie, age 29, reopened the business on July 16. The reopening attracted some attention in the area, including an article in the Auburn (California) Journal. There’s only one problem with this success story: Travis Kevie broke into the business and ran it illegally.
As it turns out, the newspaper article is what got Kevie in trouble. He was recognized by Placer County deputies, and that’s when they swooped in to put the Valencia Club out of business. Er, again. Kevie started his business with a six pack of beer, then he used that money to buy more beer. By the time the police stepped in, the business had 10 or 12 bottles of hard liquor, a couple of cases of beer, and several hundred dollars in cash on hand!
Jeez, maybe they should let him go, give him back his stuff, and just let him run the business as his sentence? He gets a job and a place to stay, the community gets their bar back, and everyone wins!
