Lost amid the bumper crop of iPhone 4 stories last week was the news that the white iPhone 4G is being delayed until later this year, due to what Apple describes as issues with the manufacturing process of turning the device into that sparkling white that Apple loves for all its gadgets and gizmos. If you’re an Apple fan, you probably believe this excuse, too. However, I hope that most people see through the ruse; this is just Apple making excuses to move the antenna inside the iPhone and give it a proper testing.
Think about it. How many YEARS has Apple pumped out devices in the same boring shade of glacier white? Since Steve Jobs took over again, at the very least. Are you trying to tell me that somehow, the process of painting plastic white has changed to the point where it requires a significant delay from the launch date of the very same black plastic model? Of course it hasn’t, this just allows Apple to buy some time between now and when the iPhone bumper program runs out on September 30.
Just you wait, they’ll get the iPhone antenna problem solved magically between now and when the white iPhone comes out, I have no doubts about it. This is just Apple shifting the blame for their shoddy products onto subcontractors (rather than blaming the consumers this time).
